Session #: 718-210
Presenter(s): Scott Sells
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2008 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 13-16, 2008
We all have difficult clients who seem impervious to every therapeutic tool in our arsenal. The block to succeeding with these "impossible" cases is usually that we haven't unearthed the "undercurrents"—the unhealthy cognitions or process patterns—that, once discovered and altered by the therapist, can produce amazing and long-lasting results. In this workshop, you'll learn how to decipher the secret language of undercurrents, and surface the underlying issues that drive extreme symptoms, such as conduct disorders, self-mutilation, bipolar disorders, unresolved grief, eating disorders, depression, and AD/HD. Using videotaped case examples and role plays, the presenter will demonstrate techniques to help disarm defenses, generate therapeutic intensity, and choreograph enactments that bring avoided issues out into the open and transform "impossible" cases into successful ones.
