Session #: 717-516
Presenter(s): David Treadway, Ph.D.
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2007 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 15-18, 2007
Grief and loss are both universal and deeply personal, resulting both from the most terrible tragedies and from the ordinary disappointments of everyday life. Everyone experiences grief in a profoundly individual way, and we must, therefore, tailor our approach to the unique circumstances of each client. In this workshop, we'll explore a wide variety of different techniques of grief work that can be individually fitted to our clients. We'll discuss how to help our clients access their own spirituality to deal with grief issues, as well as how to address their unacknowledged and avoided grief. We'll also consider how to bring our own authentic, flawed selves into therapy, use creative and skillful self-disclosure with clients, and share something of our own spiritual and healing journeys through grief.
