Kids' problems such as depression, cutting, anger, anxiety, and bullying show up in school as nowhere else, often putting parents and school personnel at odds. This workshop will present concrete, effective clinical strategies for working at the intersection between kids, parents, and schools. We'll examine how to create motivation for change when the impetus for therapy comes from the school administration, not the parents or child. You'll learn how to bridge the home/school divide by building a collaborative partnership among all participants, in which the school becomes an extended member of the family. We'll also explore communication strategies for talking with kids and adolescents, and discuss multisystems techniques for helping the child be more successful in the both school and family environment.
