We're bombarded by messages from our spiritual, cultural, and mental health traditions to transcend, or at least control, "destructive" emotions--to turn away from thoughts and feelings that draw us toward agitation or make us act impulsively. This workshop offers an alternative approach to dealing with disturbing emotions, based on receptivity rather than avoidance and a belief in the importance of accepting all parts of ourselves. The presenter will demonstrate ways to help clients learn to contact their inner parts, however disturbing they may initially seem, and learn the meaning and purpose behind negative emotions on their journey to a fuller experience of themselves. (This session will continue with Workshop 522.)
