Studies suggest that at least one-third of clients don't benefit from the therapy they get and could use a change in approach. Most often, these clients drop out, but some continue week after week without expressing their dissatisfaction. In this workshop, you'll learn how to use a simple "early-warning system" to identify these clients, clarify what isn't working, and change course before it's too late. You'll discover ways to deepen the conversation, use client feedback, create a collaborative alliance, and recruit clients' own resources in the service of change--an approach that's been shown to create positive outcomes with 65 percent of these stuck clients. You'll leave with practical strategies for motivating clients who aren't really getting much from therapy, so they don't drop out or continue to languish in therapy without any benefit.
