Session #: 717-228
Presenter(s): James Gordon, M.D.
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2007 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 15-18, 2007
Therapy techniques have evolved over the years, but with few exceptions, our concepts of a therapy practice have changed very little. Most therapists work in their offices alone, seeing a stream of families, couples, or individuals in sessions 45 to 60 minutes long. So it goes, year after year. This workshop offers a new vision of the private practice format that takes therapy out of the office-bound model into a structured, educational-group process that brings many healing factors into play. Participants will learn how to use a large-group format with a wide variety of populations--community leaders, doctors, adolescents, and ex-soldiers--to teach members self-awareness and self-care through guided meditation, drawing, journaling, yoga, movement, and other mind-body skills. You'll see why this economical way to reach large numbers of people is more fun and more energizing than standard practice, and applicable to virtually any population. (This session will continue in Workshop 328.)
