Session #: 717-226
Presenter(s): Bill O'Hanlon, M.S.
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2007 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 15-18, 2007
The Positive Psychology movement has established a scientific foundation for the attitudes, behaviors, and daily practices that underlie happiness and the meaningful life. Nevertheless, many therapists are still struggling to translate the findings of the movement into specific interventions. The goal of this session is to operationalize the empirical findings of Positive Psychology, showing how to use research-based principles in leading clients toward a life of greater purpose and meaning. You'll discover strategies for generating action shifts based on Positive Psychology principles, even in the absence of insight or strong motivation. You'll come away with a framework for helping clients develop a deeper sense of life purpose by connecting with their experiences of being dissed, pissed, blissed, and blessed, and how to help them use that energy as a pathway to creative change. (This session will continue with Workshop 326.)
