Session #: 717-223
Presenter(s): Steve Andreas, M.A.
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2007 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 15-18, 2007
A poor and inaccurate self-concept can doom an otherwise capable and intelligent person to a life of confusion and misery. This is as true of the narcissist who covers his shame with a brash, overconfident exterior as it is of the insecure underachiever who seems to have no self-confidence at all. In spite of the critically important role self-concept plays both in clients' daily lives and in the ways they respond to treatment, most therapists don't have a specific methodology for rapidly and directly changing the troubling beliefs that people have about themselves. In this experiential workshop, you'll learn how to quickly elicit the basic structure and content of someone's self-concept. Through live demonstrations, experiential exercises, and discussion, you'll discover how to help clients make rapid and profound changes by changing their view of themselves. (This session will continue with Workshop 323.)
