Women stuck in emotionally abusive relationships are often trapped in a cage of their own emotions. Paradoxically, their anger isn't liberating: they're mad about being demeaned, yes, but feel guilty about their anger and are paralyzed to act. Instead of setting limits, they try to keep a lid on their own emotions and work on maintaining the attachment bond no matter what. In this workshop, you'll learn a positive approach that puts these women in touch with their deepest values and encourages them to move toward actions and people who support those values. Once they see how their compliant behavior contradicts their values, they often find the motivation to stand up for themselves, be more protective of their children, and set limits compassionately with their partners. You'll leave with a new road map for an old and often frustrating therapeutic conundrum.
