Session #: 726-601
Presenter(s): Lisa Firestone
Session Length: 4:00 hr. Event: 2006 Networker Symposium Date: October 19-22, 2006
This course explores how an
understanding of "interpersonal
neurobiology," the neural processes
connecting one brain to
another, can help
therapists work more
effectively. Using the
insights of research in
neurobiology and
psychology, we'll discuss what
therapists can do to facilitate neural
integration and emotional
transformation in their consulting
rooms. The presenter will demonstrate
how understanding the deeply social
nature of the brain is no less important
than integrating the other "systems"
clients bring to therapy—family of
origin, spouse and children, and
cultural, ethnic, and social
background. By the time the session
ends, you'll have specific tools with
which to apply neuroscience to your
therapy practice.
