Session #: 726-405
Presenter(s): Lawrence Diller
Session Length: 2:00 hr. Event: 2006 Networker Symposium Date: October 19-22, 2006
Today receiving a diagnosis of
AD/HD and an accompanying
prescription for meds is as common as
treating a cold. This workshop will
demystify the diagnosis and treatment
of AD/HD, the role and limitations of
medications, and how to
handle the common
pressures to diagnose
children with AD/HD.
You'll learn an approach to
diagnosis that takes into
account family and school demands, as
well as neurological and personality
factors, in determining the degree of
impairment. You'll gain skill at
distinguishing between AD/HD and
other learning and emotional problems
of children and at resisting parental
pressures both for and against
medication. We'll give special attention
to employing effective nondrug
interventions with AD/HD.
