Session Length: 2:00 hr. Event: 2006 Networker Symposium Date: October 19-22, 2006
The latest findings of neuroscience confirm what parents, teachers, and therapists have long suspected: boys follow a different emotional and social developmental path from that of girls. This workshop will highlight important neurodevelopmental differences between boys and girls, including the multifaceted contribution of auditory processing, that affect how they become socially skilled and emotionally intelligent. You?ll learn concrete clinical strategies that resonate with the hearts and minds of boys and draw on their learning strengths, to help them develop better communication skills. We?ll also explore structured behavioral interventions that emphasize mastery, action, and play to teach boys social awareness, complemented by techniques for coaching parents to enhance their school-age sons? emotional literacy.
