304 Most problems brought to therapy stem from habits of thought and internalized conversations that arise out of cultural ideologies and community values. Clients come to see us because these internalized habits have led to a confused, pathological view of themselves. In this workshop, we'll examine how these habits and social customs figure in the construction of depression, anxiety, and relationship conflict. Participants will learn a narrative interview approach called "counterviewing" designed to challenge these habits of mind and deconstruct the ideas that underlie them. We'll discuss a series of questions that can move clients past guilt, fear, and perfectionism, expanding their sense of worthiness and possibility.
