211 About one in five couples avoid sexual intercourse almost entirely because of performance anxiety and loss of desire. Even after using Viagra and/or sex therapy, many couples are only one disappointing sexual experience away from slipping back into chronic patterns of sexual dysfunction. This workshop will address core cultural myths that set clients up for sexual failure, particularly the media-fed fantasy that the male erection is always automatic and guaranteed, inevitably leading to successful intercourse and earth-shaking orgasms. We'll explore how to teach couples to become an "intimate team" that can rebuild intimacy, develop comfort and confidence, and create individual and mutual "bridges" to heightened sexual desire. We'll focus on long-term, multidimensional strategies that help couples not only revitalize their sex lives, but also prevent relapse and maintain mutual sexual pleasure throughout the life cycle.
