206 The fascinating advances in neurobiology provide valuable insights into the cause and treatment of anxiety disorders. This session distills practical and concrete guidelines from the world of research for use in treating clients with anxiety disorders. Participants will learn how neurobiological information may be woven into clients' therapy to enhance motivation and diminish self-blame, especially in relapse. Participants will be able to apply specific methods for use with panic, social phobia, and ruminative worrying. They'll also learn to teach an anxious individual's family members both when to back off and when understanding and empathy can make things worse.
