606 Beginning therapists face a variety of obstacles as they start down the path from novice to seasoned therapist. This session will create an atmosphere of safety and open sharing in which we can explore the central clinical and professional issues therapists face as they begin their careers. In the morning session, we'll explore such questions as: What skills are essential to becoming a successful clinician? How do you develop rapport with difficult clients? How do you use your strengths to develop an authentic therapeutic style? In the afternoon, we'll focus on the nuts and bolts of starting up a clinical practice, as well as how to develop clear career objectives and begin moving toward them. You'll come away with a much clearer idea of the common mistakes made by new therapists and how to avoid them, along with increased confidence in your ability to become a highly effective therapist.
