516 While our Western psychological tradition is good at understanding negative emotions?worry, anxiety, annoyance, rage, and the like?we're only beginning to develop a psychology of positive emotion. This workshop will explore what the vast tradition of Buddhist psychology can tell us about cultivating attitudes of compassion, gratitude, and love, and clarify how to apply this wisdom to our therapy practices. Together, we'll experience a variety of techniques to promote positive emotions, including meditation, guided imagery, and the practice of reaching out with our hearts. Participants will also learn a powerful Tibetan practice of how to sit with people who are suffering.
