510 Yoga isn't only a natural mood elevator, it also improves cognitive functioning and helps people focus. A few simple yoga techniques can help depressed clients calm the feelings of anxiety that often accompany depression, become less reactive, and cultivate an inner "witness state" that helps them gain some perspective on their emotions. In this workshop, participants will learn several breathing techniques and yoga postures that can enhance the effectiveness of therapy, particularly with clients who aren't responding well to medications or who've received only partial relief from cognitive approaches. You'll also discover how to help clients develop a regular yoga practice as an adjunct to therapy.
