505 In recent years, constant threats of terrorism, war, and environmental devastation have triggered widespread sorrow, fear, and despair. This experiential workshop will explore how we can help our clients (and ourselves) turn grief, fear, and despair into the spiritual strengths we most need: courage, compassion, gratitude, joy, and faith in life. The presenter will discuss a practical seven-step process called the alchemy of dark emotions, which includes such practices as using focused intention; affirming the value of "negative" emotions; locating emotions in the body; and mindfulness practice for getting comfortable with discomfort. Participants will learn methods to alleviate the everyday stress of living in an age of global threat.
