409 Often, even when clients know that certain behaviors?repeated violence, chronic substance abuse, intense marital struggles?will harm them or their relationships, they seem driven to return to actions that hurt instead of heal. All therapists have experienced the frustration of working with clients who seem to fall back again and again into the same destructive patterns. This workshop is based on the belief that what often fuels these tenacious and persistent problems is rooted in overlooked generational patterns, loyalty issues, and entitlements in families of origin. Via video clips and discussion, participants will gain a clear, concise understanding of Contextual Therapy and how concrete interventions can be used to restore trust in the face of even the most tenacious problems.
