405 Cases involving incest and child abuse can place enormous demands on the therapist, who must deal with multiple systems and make tough decisions about whether the client family can be preserved while safeguarding the welfare of the child. In this workshop, a veteran therapist will provide a clear blueprint for dealing with issues of safety and responsibility that can be used in out-patient therapy as well as residential treatment. We'll explore practical approaches to creating safety, helping the family acknowledge what happened, challenging old patterns, and empowering the nonoffending parent. Participants will leave the workshop with a step-by-step model they can use immediately with their most challenging cases.
