316 Talk therapy, by its nature, is based primarily on our client's cognitive self-concepts. Yet identity is also based on our physical and emotional sensations, the distinctive quality of aliveness in our bodies. In this presentation designed for talk therapists, a body-oriented therapist will show how the way clients sit, gesture, and move expresses their life stories and can provide a gateway into deeper issues. You'll learn to identify the specific patterns in your clients' bodies that may impede their work in therapy and how to lead clients in simple experiments that will help them more fully embody the changes they're seeking.
