229 When treatment with narcissistic or borderline clients becomes difficult, therapists tend to blame their clients' resistance. But often the cause of the problem is very simple: we don't have a clear diagnosis or a concrete treatment plan. This workshop will show how developing a careful diagnostic profile can lead to realistic expectations of the client, and a workable treatment plan. The presenter will demonstrate how to implement a diagnostic procedure to determine the severity of the problem and use the results to select the appropriate cognitive-behavioral technique, depending on the level of dysfunction. (This session will continue with Workshop 329.)
