213 The world of The Waltons is gone and, with it, the idealized and outdated models for how adult children should take care of their aging parents. This workshop addresses the guilt, shame, and anger so many baby boomers feel today regarding their caretaking responsibilities, and offers practical solutions to caring for aging parents. We'll explore three critical issues?how to reduce chaos and conflict by structuring the economics and day-to-day practicalities of caregiving; how to balance the caregiver's needs with those of the parent (especially when the parent is difficult to manage); and how to recognize the opportunities for transcendent growth through the caregiver's journey. You'll learn a variety of techniques, to resolve issues of forgiveness, as well as deal with anger and guilt in ourselves and our parents.
