209 The events of 9/11 and the endless reports of terrorist attacks around the world create a collective state of arousal that exists in the background of awareness for many clients and therapists, and challenges us to deal with feelings of uncertainty and fear. This workshop will explore how therapists can help clients bring these feelings into the open and deal with them in the treatment room. Together, we'll explore what types of beliefs, spiritual practices, and activities calm and sustain clients. We'll look at ways to help clients tolerate impermanence, become solidly grounded in the present moment, and generate inner resources for self-soothing. And to create a safe container for this work with clients, we'll investigate how we, as therapists, support and sustain ourselves.
