205 Most couples therapists will agree that their primary goal for a marriage in trouble is to preserve the union, but do we really help couples by pretending that all marriages can?or should?be saved? This workshop will explore the hard-to-face reality that the differences in some couples regarding money, sex, and parenting are so fundamental that compromise and resolution are impossible. The presenter will introduce an approach that helps couples discover irresolvable incompatibilities earlier rather than later in marriage. And for those in "fatally flawed" relationships, we'll examine how to help them achieve a good divorce, in which they can move on without hostility and learn important lessons for future relationships.
