For National Book Award winner Sherwin Nuland, the most important achievement of his life has been the care of the 10,000 patients he's treated as a surgeon and physician. In addition, however, he's been acclaimed for his books about the practice and philosophy of medicine, including the much-honored How We Die. He's also written the autobiographical Lost in America: A Journey with My Father. In his dinner address, Nuland will explore what his own journey through midlife crisis and depression taught him about the possibility for self-renewal and reintegration with the past.
