613 Our chaotic, 21st-century lives often lack the structure, discipline, and, perhaps most of all, raw physical energy required to give our personal and professional lives the balance they need. What practical steps can we take to avoid burnout and maintain our vitality - and the quality of our clinical work - in the face of the ceaseless demands made upon us? In this experiential workshop on therapist self-care, you'll learn about the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual-energy needs each of us has, and how best to manage these dimensions of our lives. Using a structured- assessment tool, you'll see clearly how you spend energy in your professional and home life, and what you typically do to replenish it. From this new understanding of your daily patterns of energy expenditure, you'll develop a specific, practical energy wellness plan. You'll discover the behavioral changes you need to make and acquire concrete methods for replenishing energy during the day, including stretching, sitting energetically, and using positive rituals, meditation, and guided imagery. Using music, movement, dance, art, and aroma therapy, we'll practice a wide range of techniques to generate and replenish energy in all areas of our lives.
