When a man in a heterosexual marriage is caught surfing gay porn sites or contacting other men for sex, the married couple typically concludes that the husband is gay and the marriage must end. But to the shock of these couples—and many therapists—some of these husbands aren't homosexual. In this workshop, we'll explore the identity formation and "sexual maps" of straight men who pursue gay sex, and how a therapist's misunderstandings about sexuality can lead to mistaken conclusions that these men are "in denial" about their gayness. You'll learn how to effectively address the fears and insecurities of the betrayed spouse, help the couple communicate productively about sexuality, and guide them toward an informed decision about the future of their marriage.
