Session #: 718-423
Presenter(s): Richard Schwartz
Session Length: 2 hr. 00 min. Event: 2008 Networker Annual Symposium Date: March 13-16, 2008
We traditionally think of healing as coming out of the therapeutic relationship, but this perspective on change profoundly underestimates our clients' capacity for self-healing. This workshop will introduce Internal Family Systems, a model that offers practical tools for putting clients in conversation with their deepest source of healing—the Self. Through experiential exercises, you'll learn how to contact your own Self—a core of equanimity, openheartedness, and inner leadership. You'll also gain skills for helping clients move through dialogues with disowned parts of themselves in the process of developing a fuller capacity for Self leadership. Along the way, you'll discover what it feels like to translate the therapy hour from an often difficult struggle to an effortless flow between you and your clients. (This session will continue with Workshop 523.)
