The explosion of brain research in recent years gives therapists a deeper understanding of the role of attachment security in a child's healthy development. We now know that empathic attunement between parent and child enhances the relationship, improves trust and openness, and increases the child's capacity for emotional regulation. That attunement results from activating the mirror-neuron system within the brains of the parent and child. This workshop introduces the principles and methods of Child-Centered Play Therapy, an approach to improving parent-child relationships by strengthening the empathic attunement between parents and children. Through demonstrations and role-playing parent-child play sessions, you'll experience the power of this model, the techniques that foster empathic attunement, and how to conduct child-centered play sessions.
